Vuelta in Full Swing, Leipheimer Wins U.S. Road Glory, and Interbike On My Mind…

Vuelta in Full Swing

The Vuelta a Espana, the third grand tour of the year, got started a few days back, and the racing is fantastic.  Daneile Bennati won the opening stage, and Oscar Freire of Spain won stage 2, energizing his home spectators.  The full coverage of the Veulta can be seen on Cycling.tv for free.  A premium membership will get you higher quality video.  Go check it out.  The Spanish Vuelta is the least watched of the three grand tours because it is late in the year, but the racing is as good as the Tour de France.

Leipheimer Wins U.S. Road Championship

It is still unknown what team Levi Leipheimer will ride for next year, but we know what color his jersey will be……Red, White, and Blue!  Levi won in dramatic fashion.  He took a five man breakaway on a crazy pace leaving the entire group with burning legs by the end.  Levi takes the championship away from his teammate, George Hincapie, who won it in his hometown of Greenville, South Carolina this same time last year.  Interestingly enough, only 30 of the 114 entrants finished the race.

Interbike On My Mind

Interbike, the cycling industry trade show, is less than a month away, and I am getting excited.  I am taking a few friends to Las Vegas with me this year, and it is going to be one crazy road trip.  20 hours of driving each way with two babies and a three year old.  We are all getting together tonight to plan out the trip.

The first two days of the show are demo days, where we will be able to test out new bikes from all the major manufacturers.  I will be posting pictures and reviews.  Time is limited, so if there is a specific bike you want me to review, just post a comment here on the site.
