Kloden Suspects Broken Tailbone

Andreas Kloden, currently in 2nd place, may have broken his tailbone in a crash earlier today.  It was about 75 KM before the end of today’s stage when something caused him to crash into a ditch on the side of the road.  He fought back to the peloton, but now his tour is in doubt.  […]

How and When Will the Landis Decision be Given?

I have received several e-mail questions about when and how the Floyd Landis decision will be handed down.  There have been lots of guesses as to when the decision will be announced, but none of them have actually happened yet.  The last rumor I heard was that it would be given tomorrow.
As to the question […]

Astana’s Bad Day

Team Astana had a very bad day today.  Their two team leaders started as favorites to win the Tour de France, but a couple of nasty crashes today leaves some doubt that they can pull it off.  First to hit the ground today was Andreas Kloden.  He is the co-leader of the team, and he went down early in […]

Hushovd Sprints to Stage 4 Win

Norwegian Thor Hushovd outsprinted everyone to win stage 4 in the Tour de France earlier today.  Cancellara finished with the pack and kept the Yellow jersey.
This may be the last day for Cancellara to get his kisses from the podium girls.  Tomorrow’s stage 5 has many hills that could set up an attack from a […]

Cancellara Keeps Yellow By Winning Stage 3

Fabian Cancellara paced a slow race today until the end.  Much of the race was very slow.  The first four hours were right around 20 miles per hour.  This slow pace allowed a breakaway group to get as much as 14 minutes on the rest of the field.  The peloton picked up at the end, […]

Freddie Rodriguez Broken Likely Broke His Collar Bone

Freddie Rodriguez came across the line looking pretty shaken after the crash today in stage 2.  ITV reporters asked him if he was O.K.
Freddie: “Small Roads…Windy little roads…Not a good finish for a Tour de France.
ITV: “Freddie, Is that the rib you are holding or the wrist?”
Freddie: “It’s..It’s my collar bone.”
It looks like Freddie’s tour is […]

Steegmans Wins?…and A Big Crash

Gert Steegmans, one of Tom Boonen’s leadout men, won stage 2 in the Tour de France today.  It seems that he forgot to stop leading out for Boonen and just kept sprinting to the finish.  Don’t be fooled by any post stage comments by Quickstep.  Steegmans is definitely supposed to help Boonen win and not […]

McEwen McSprints and Makes Tom Boonen Look McSilly

Stage 1 of the Tour de France went 203 kilometers from London to Canterbury earlier today.  It was a brisk pace of 26+ miles per hour.  Everyone expected the sprinters to be active in this stage, but nobody expected it to end the way it did.  Robbie McEwen crashed with less than 10 miles to […]

Landis Will Find Out Tomorrow…and A Few Other Things.

A Belgian source is reporting that the arbitration panel hearing Floyd’s case will render its verdict tomorrow.  The organizers of the Tour de France always pushed for this to be done before the start of the 2008 Tour, and it looks like they will get their wish.  It is strange to me that cycling always drops […]
