Rasmussen Kicked Out of Tour

Wow!  Never before has the apparent winner-to-be of the Tour de France been kicked off of his own team just days before the finish.  That is exactly what just happened.  Michael Rasmussen lied to his team and everyone else, when he said that he was in Mexico in the month leading up to the tour.  He insisted that the high altitudes in Mexico were important to his training regime.  He was actually in Italy (maybe sitting next to Vinokourov in Dr. Ferrari’s office).

A Rabobank official said, “He broke team rules.”  “It is not even sure that the team will carry on in the race.”

Alberto Contador, just 24 years old, is left in first place.  Cadel Evans is just 2′53″ back, and he is a very good time trialer.  In fact there are only a few people in the race that are capable of beating him.  If this is the end of the doping shake out for this year’s tour, the time trial should be exciting.
