Kloden Update

Andreas Kloden indeed suffers from a cracked tailbone.  The Astana team website says that Kloden will not withdraw from the Tour, and we can expect him to start tomorrow.

What resulted in to unbalance the German runner which fell into the side from the road. Helped by Daniele Navarro (ESP), it could join the group and cross the finishing line to go immediately to the hospital. The medical diagnosis raises a crack on the level of the coccyx, as well as a contusion on the thigh and a strong pain with the hip. Three years ago, Andreas Klöden had already broken the coccyx. Andreas Klöden suffers passably, but should be at the beginning of the stage of tomorrow.  -astana website

The only remaining question is whether or not Alexandre Vinokourov will have to remove himself from the race.  He suffered large cuts to his knee during his high speed crash.  The crash was caused by his chain skipping during the ride today.  The Astana website said that “[Vino’s] medical diagnosis has not been established yet.”
