Hushovd Sprints to Stage 4 Win

Norwegian Thor Hushovd outsprinted everyone to win stage 4 in the Tour de France earlier today.  Cancellara finished with the pack and kept the Yellow jersey.

This may be the last day for Cancellara to get his kisses from the podium girls.  Tomorrow’s stage 5 has many hills that could set up an attack from a stronger climber.  There are four riders that I will be watching to possibly make a move:

  1. Alexander Vinokourov-  Known as the attacker because of his relentless attacks.  He wants to win the tour and will likely make a move tomorrow.
  2. Levi Leipheimer-  Also wants to win the tour.  I expect that he will try to match attacks rather than start one himself.
  3. Andreas Kloden-  A strong climber, Kloden may try to solidify his GC standing by taking off on his own or with teammate Vinokourov.
  4. Alberto Contador-  One of the best climbers in the tour.  He is sitting in 19th place, 5 seconds ahead of his team leader Levi Leipheimer.  He may try to attack to show that he is the future of Team Discovery.

Stage 5 will be the most exciting stage to date.  It doesn’t get any easier from here on out.
