Cancellara Keeps Yellow By Winning Stage 3

Fabian Cancellara paced a slow race today until the end.  Much of the race was very slow.  The first four hours were right around 20 miles per hour.  This slow pace allowed a breakaway group to get as much as 14 minutes on the rest of the field.  The peloton picked up at the end, when it was evident that the breakaway might be able to make it to the end without being caught.  Cancellara then took off on his own and was able to stay in front of the hard charging sprinters.  His win also gave him a 20 second time bonus, so he is now 33 seconds ahead of second place Andreas Kloden.
